Still magic seeing the TARDIS materialise in 21st century Who.
The Doctor and Rose have followed a distress call to the distant space year of 2012.
"An old friend of mine..."
Lovely to see that old school Cyberman head, even if it is the wrong one.
The Doctor's touching the exhibits.
Really hope Rob Shearman can find the time for another script in the not too distant future.
#Shermanfordoctorwhoshowrunner Now that would be exciting
Now we meet despotic billionaire Henry Van Statten and his team of sycophants, including Todd off of Corrie.
Van Statten is having one of his lackeys drill something with a blue POV shot; it's not talking, it's screaming.
The Doctor shows off and puts both Todd and Van Statten in their places. Van Statten decides to show off the pride of his collection
Wonder what this "Metaltron" that causes people to burst into flames really is...?
Of course, it's a #Dalek!
The #Dalek's gun doesn't work. Ecclescake is cock a hoop.
Easily some of his best work on the series, this scene. The rage, the intensity.
"I watched it happen - I *MADE* it happen!"
"What I did, I did without choice... in the name of peace and sanity."
Fantastic voice work from Nick Briggs here as the #Dalek goes through sneering to forlorn in a few sentences.
Todd shows Rose his techy gubbins. Getting a strong Adric vibe here.
hope Adam doesn't get teleported onto a certain space freighter.
Van Statten does control the internet, I guess!
Love the reference to Davros, "a genius, a man who was king of his own little world..."
Van Statten plans to rip off the Doctor's cardiovascular system.
He's also withholding the cure to the common cold. Git.
"That thing in your dungeon is better than you." Coming from the Doctor that's a condemnation and a half.
Rose always messes things up.
"What are you going to do, sucker me to death?" Now you mention it...
The #Dalek has regenerated itself and is out of the cage. Van Statten's private army are extermination fodder.
The #Dalek finds a computer terminal and tarts itself up, absorbing the entire internet. Must be riddled with porn & viruses now.
That Dalek read the whole of the Internet. No wonder it went on a killing rampage.
This episode really makes a monumental contribution to the overall perception of the series. The #Dalek is actually scary.
They're 95% perfect; I just would have liked the old silver and blue colour scheme!
The #Dalek's so powerful, relentless, manipulative & cunning, you really feel it's unstoppable. You *have* to take it seriously.
The Dalek sets the sprinklers off then electrocutes everyone with one blast. And it forces the Doctor to watch.
"I fed off the DNA of Rose Tyler." Too much information, #Dalek, too much information.
The #Dalek twists the knife. "You would make a good Dalek!" Such a clever line.
"You just want to drag the stars down and stick them underground, underneath tons of sand and dirt, and label them!" Eccleston really makes the most of Shearman's script.
The Dalek's caught something off Rose.
It seems to be becoming more human, but it's still gunning for Van Statten.
The #Dalek strips down to its' mutant and breathes in the sunlight. The Doctor, who never uses a gun, points a gun at it.
Rose has to talk him down. The Doctor would have killed the #Dalek, believing it the last survivor, and Gallifrey gone.
The #Dalek prefers suicide to becoming human. Now *that's* a condemnation.
Yes but it's the judgment of a psychotic killer - hardly the attitude of a well-adjusted cyborg.
Lol. True.
So the Doctor and Rose leave, with the Doctor *sure* he's the only Time-Lord left and no more Daleks. Good luck with that.
Worse, Rose talks him into taking Adric 2 with them. Not sure that really counts as a "win" even with the Dalek gone.
TTFN! K.
