Army of Ghosts & Doomsday

How many times did they use that opening shot of Earth over the years?

Love those flying Ray things.

Always good to see Graeme Harper's name on screen.

Jackie's still funny, no matter how smug and annoying Rose gets.

That wierd glowy picture quality they went for in this period...

Had Torchwood aired at this point? Wierd hearing that snatch of the theme.

Tennant looks so young. Poor guy.

That guy on Trisha with a burbery T-Shirt! LMAO!

No Rum? No Brandy? The Vic is the worst pub ever.

The celebrity cameos got progressively worse in RTD's time - Anne Widdicombe & McFly in Sound of Drums.

Is that hammond organ riff meant to sound so Scooby Doo? Probably.

From the sublime Cyberman-behind-a-shower-curtain to Tennant gurning out ghostbusters. Gone a bit pear shaped.

Jackie's right. Rose had got so up herself by this point I couldn't wait for her to go so the show could be about the Doctor again.

I wouldn't trust that GP out of Corrie with a ghost shift when he's using his scanner to make a fan version of the 'Enders titles.

Nope, you should never say Allons-y ever again. You will, though. Part and parcel of the smugness that had built up by this point of the series.

Was never that keen on the green-lit orange walls of the console room.

"I'm 40!" "Deluded." Some of this Doctor/Jackie banter foreshadows the dynamic with Donna, I reckon.

Ah, yes, now we're rather fond of these mcguffins that definitely won't be used later on, no sir.

They do look cool, but really the idea of the 3D glasses seeing voidstuff doesn't make any sense.

I spy, with my little eye, something beginning with "ooh look, there's Mickey"

Naughty Martha. It's refusal to obey a management instruction, but "death by sonic screwdriver" seems a harsh punishment.

It'd already leaked, of course, but the upcoming cliffhanger was an immense thrill at the time.  The all-black dalek still looks fantastic.

I would really love them to repaint the RTD bronze Daleks in the classic Hartnell-era silver and blue.

It's always better when the Doctor and the Cybermen have a bit of back and forth dialogue.

Shame these are just walking robot brain-jars instead of actual Cybermen, because the head design is great.

People diss Nick Briggs, but each Dalek voice is different and has a distinct character. Underrated work there.

"Yo mama so fat she couldn't exterminate the Doctor in 50,000 rels if he was in front of her."

Love that Dalek heartbeat sound.

I remember having *NO CLUE* what was inside the Genesis Ark at the time; genuinely started to think it might be Davros or the Master. I think it was that blue light on top that got me thinking that it was Davros' eye peeping through!

Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnn!!!!!

It's Danny Hargreaves and the boys!

Not keen on those odd close ups against black drapes.

It was forward thinking of Rose to put on a blue top to co-ordinate with all the colour scheme throughout these episodes.

These were characters that you'd really had time to get to know & sympathise with, so you really cared at this point.

"Pete's World - a bit like Jurassic Park, but Cybermen instead of Dinosaurs."

Has Rose left yet?

Nice little call back to The Parting of the Ways there.

"You will not pass." "What is the meaning of this?" "You will not pass." "Are you having a laugh?"  Why would it still have her voice, only her brain is in there! Why would it cry oil? Why???

"Emergency temporal shift! Leg it! Leg it!"
Yes! Back of the net! Good riddance.

Ladles and jellyspoons, Mr. Murray Gold.  Love that balance between the piano note, the voice and the guitar. Wonderful stuff.

It's still all me, me, me with Rose, though, isn't it?

BEST. PRACTICAL JOKE. EVER.

In hindsight I probably do think Donna was the best of the RTD companions. In it for the adventure, not the stalking.

TTFN! K.
Coming Soon... Remembrance of the Daleks
