A9 "Project Avalon" (Blake's 7)

Brrrr! Looks like Antarctica! Watch out for Krynoids!

A hooded figure tramps through the snow with a mutoid. It's Travis, wearing a fur-lined coat.

They head underground where his contact gives him a map. Blake's on the way.
It's working, just as Travis predicted.

Surface temperature minus 120 degrees. Put yer thermals on!

Blake's arranged to hook up with Avalon, Jenna's going too as she's the only one that knows what Avalon looks like.

Avon kindly info-dumps, then gives the subterrons a swerve when Blake offers him down on planet popsicle.

More mutoids arrive and move down into the caves, where the labour force is mining ice crystals that power lasers.

Travis threatens to shoot Stuart Fell unless Avalon comes forward.

She does, then Travis has the mutoids gun everyone else down, including Greggos Traitorelli.

Blake whacks up the thermostat on his heated suit.

Blake and Jenna find Avalon's homing beacon and the slaughtered miners, but Avalon's nowhere to be found.

There's a lone survivor, who tells Blake that Gregos Traitorelli allowed the Federation to capture Avalon.

Back in the warmth, Travis treats Avalon to a mind-probe / day spa.
Avalon's capture is no chance event, Travis has had this long in the planning.
Taren Capel tells Blake it's impossible to get into federation HQ.
Blake's first thought is to try sneaking in through ventilation shafts. Good old Terry Nation.

Another classic Avon zinger. VILA: I've got a weak chest! AVON: The rest of you's not very impressive.

Vila's needed to do the sneaky work, Cally&Avon grin like loons as he nearly burns his nips off in the thermal suit.

Servalan arrives. There've been 2 attempts on her life, inspired by Blake's struggle.

There's pressure to replace Travis. Give it a series...

Servalan's brought Travis some glowing balls. He tests one on a prisoner, and it melts his face. Yeah, that'll do.

The prisoner's down to his skeleton and the glow ball hoodoo's cleared in seconds. Blake won't like that up him. It's a virus rather than radiation, but it dies out once it's done it's job.

The beeb decide to get their money's worth out of that crappy robot from Seek-Locate-Destroy.
Servalan is listening/watching some kind of gigantic walkman when the mutoids detect the Liberator.

Travis readies his men to expect Blake's rescue mission.

"His name is Blake and *this* is his authority!"

Blake & Jenna try to play the old prisoner and escort trick, but there's a scuffle & the alarm is sounded.

Blake calls the getaway car as they bust Avalon out of her day spa.

Blake gives Avalon his thermal jacket & they make their getaway... but not before Avalon's been stunned.

They want to watch out for any leftover Cybermen in those caves.

They blast the crappy robot & Avon teleports them up.

Now aboard the Liberator, Avalon acts oddly, and Taren Capel looks shifty.

Blake is suspicious about their easy escape, and finds the federation rifle is rigged to bruise, not kill.

They suss that it's a trap of some sort, but just what is going on...?

Cally's been knocked unconscious. Avalon finds her way to the bridge, where she pulls the wool over Gan's eyes.

She's obsessed with that ruddy tunic.

Taren Capel's bought it. It's not really Avalon, it's a super-powered android or something.

It takes the whole crew to subdue her, and they soon have the virus ball under glass.

Travis is non-plussed to find that Blake has come back, virus ball and all.

This is actually the first time Blake & Servalan have come face to face, isn't it?
Blake gets Avalon away, but Travis lives to fight another day. He's relieved of command but swears he'll destroy Blake.

He'll be back...

TTFN! K.
