The Doctor Dances

Previously on Doctor Who...

"Go to your room!"

The Doctor tries a novel approach for his cliffhanger resolution!
Mark Walker ‏@Mark_Walker I think at the time I thought it was a bit naff, but actually think it's quite good now!

"I'm really glad that worked. Those would have been terrible last words."

Mark Walker ‏@Mark_Walker those lines make the whole bit a lot better!

The Doctor's quick thinking also saves Nancy, as the child retreats.

Jack tries to justify his con, but the Doctor tells him it's volcano day...

Jason McLaughlin ‏@jangomac72 So not only was the 10th & 7th Doctor in Pompeii but Capt. Jack was there too!!
Simon Pittman ‏@LibraryPlayer And don't forget the guy who looks a lot like 12 for some reason. And the girl who looks like Amy... :D

You can hardly blame the volcano for blowing its top with that lot all knocking about!

Nancy is apprehended by the family whose food she was raiding...

Jack has a squareness gun from the 51st century.

The Doctor tells Jack he's been to the weapon factories of Villengard just once. The main reactor went critical. Vaporized the lot.

"Like I said. Once. There's a banana grove there, now. I like bananas. Bananas are good."

I think we know why the weapon factories aren't there any more.

Mr. Lloyd claims to have earned all that food by getting sweaty. Not entirely untrue, as Nancy points out...

People whinged about RTD's "gay agenda" but that was barely even a single entendre from Moff, maybe about half an entendre!!

Mark Walker ‏@Mark_Walker true, no implication, just plain saying it.

50dw50 ‏@50dw50 ironic as RTD made Who less gay in so many ways

Mark Walker ‏@Mark_Walker  LOL!

The Doctor and chums listen to the child's recorded case notes...

He sent it to its room.

THIS is its' room. This would have been a better cliffhanger, actually.

When Jack pulls his weapon, he finds the Doctor's pulled the old switcheroo and it's a banana he's pointing at the child.

The Doctor gets them out with his newly acquired squareness gun.

Jack shows him the special features, including a rewind button that replaces the wall. Nifty.

The child's zombies soon catch them up though, and they're once again in a stand-off.

"It's sonic, okay? Let's leave it at that."
"Disrupter? Cannon? What?"
"It's sonic! Totally sonic! I am soniced up!"
"A sonic what?"
"Screwdriver!"

It's Rose's quick thinking that saves them, aiming the squareness gun at the floor.

"Who looks at a screwdriver and thinks, ooh, this could be a little more sonic?"
Jason McLaughlin ‏@jangomac72 Handbags at dawn!!

The zombies are soon on their case again, though, and they're penned in to a supply room, with the squareness gun's battery drained.

"I've got a banana and at a pinch you could put up some shelves." Let's call the whole thing off!

While the Doctor searches for a way out, he fails to notice that Jack has already vanished...

The creepy typewriter scene is brilliant.

As a late edition you can almost understand why Moff is typically last minute with deadlines - better under pressure?

Though he does have Nancy rather give away the twist.

Jack didn't just leave them in the lurch, he's teleported up to his ship, and tunes to Glen Miller instead of the child's creepy 'threats'.

No offence to Glen Miller but maybe they should actually be listening out for whatever the child's up to?

Rose thinks the world won't end if the Doctor Dances. Little does she know...

Mark Walker ‏@Mark_Walker that's how the world ends - not with a bang, but with the Doctor dancing.....

Pretty sure he killed the moon by imitating Michael Jackson's famous moves.

The Doctor starts to work things out when he sees Rose's healed hands...

...and, beamed aboard Jack's ship, the nanogenes seem to confirm his suspicions.

Nancy is caught cutting her way into the bomb site...

...and imprisoned next to an 'infected' soldier.

The Doctor enjoys Rose's apparent disappointment that Jack doesn't only have eyes for her.

Nancy sings a lullaby to subdue the gasmask zombie she's handcuffed to.

When they try to open the pod, a self-destruct sequence is activated. NO TOUCH POD! Sheesh.

The child's army awakes!

Rose drops some massive spoiler bombs on Nancy about the end of the war.

The Doctor's worked it out. "Getting it now, are we?"

The nanogenes adopted the injured child as their template to reprogram the DNA of the entire human race.

The bomb's on its way, volcano day's coming...

He might have worked out about the nanogenes, but the answer to the question is only just dawning on him.

Jason McLaughlin ‏@jangomac72 Such a brilliant premise, remember being really impressed with that twist on broadcast

Time for Jack to take one for the team...

When Nancy admits she's the mummy...

...the nanogene express restores Jamie from the correct template...

And the Doctor's overjoyed!

Just as the bomb's about to hit, Jack tractors it away.

He's a gonner, can't see him coming back from the dead.

The Doctor takes control of the nanogenes to heal all the gasmask zombies.

"Everybody lives!"
Jason McLaughlin ‏@jangomac72 "Everybody lives Rose!!" Love the joy of the 9th Doctor at this, understandable he's so pleased after the Time War!! He's relived he's managed to save everyone, helps with his guilt of the Time War, adds layers to characterisation of 9th.

Doctor Constantine notes that all "his" patients seem to be standing around in a disused railway station. "Yeah, well, you know, cutbacks."

"Beat the Germans, save the world. Don't forget the welfare state! I give it about 70 years, till Cameron gets his grubby mits on it, anyway."
Mark Walker ‏@Mark_Walker I love the 'my leg has grown back' / 'are you sure you didn't miscount' bit.

"There is a war on, you know..." :-D
Mark Walker ‏@Mark_Walker I read the actress who played Nancy didn't stay in acting, which is a shame.

KippyWoo ‏@TygerWhoCame2T Yes, I saw that recently (DWM, I think?), real shame.

"Look at you, beaming away like you're Father Christmas."
"Who says I'm not; red bicycle when you were twelve?"

"Go on, ask me anything. I'm on fire!"

Jack is ready to accept his fate...

...as he doesn't notice the TARDIS has materialised aboard.
Jason McLaughlin ‏@jangomac72 Nice camera pan to reveal the Tardis control room there

The Doctor dances... badly.

"Rose, I've just remembered - I can dance!" CLUNK.

"I thought Jack might like this dance."

"I'm sure he would, Rose. I'm absolutely certain. But who with?"

TTFN! K.
Coming Soon... The Mark of the Rani
