1.01 "The Man Trap" (Star Trek)

The Enterprise is such a cool ship. Kirk's left Spock in charge, while he& Bones beam down.

Bones wonders if Kirk gets girls to like him through bribery.

Hang about, she aged about 30 years when Kirk looked at her.

And turned into a young blonde when Darnell looked at her!

Does that make sense? Makes herself attractive to Darnell, but doesn't bother for Kirk?

And speaking of great theme tunes... This is the version before they added the vocal part in.
Crater says they don't need anything, just some supplies of salt...

Darnell's dead Jim.

Interesting little character moments between Spock and Uhura there.

Turns out Darnell wasn't really poisoned. "Don't tell me my business, Jim!"

Darnell died of salt deficiency and Kirk smells a rat. Another 2 crew a dead, and not a red shirt amongst them!

It's obvious now that "Nancy" is some kind of shape-shifting salt-vampire.

What's not obvious is why Crater is helping her/it when it's not really Nancy.

"Green" is a creepy looking guy.

Mindboggling scene with a red shirt leering over Rand "Is that for me, Janice?" then staring at her arse as she leaves.

Sulu's glove puppet plant is hilarious.

Now the salt vampire's chatting Uhura up in Swahili.

Now to McCoy in his quarters, looking really odd in his black T-Shirt.

McCoy can't sleep. Kirk prescribes "one of those red pills you gave me last week."

Kirk beams down to stun some sense into Crater, but he doesn't know that "McCoy" isn't really McCoy...

The planet's surface is obviously a studio set.

The stun beam's made Crater stoned. "Nancy" is the last of her species.

Love the spinning lights in the nacelles.

Time to all sit down around a big table and explain the plot. See, TNG certainly didn't invent that!

I love all the props and sets in the Original Series; it's all so stylish, and yet still believably functional.

"Fortunately my ancestors and yours spawned in different oceans." Spock, you racist.

Nancy's having a go at Kirk. He doesn't usually resist.

Spock slapping "Nancy" like that is till quite shocking!

Aww, the real salt vampire looks quite sad, really.

A downbeat ending there, with no real postmortem. Probably the better for it, actually!

Well, that was fun. Love TOS, it's so polished and self-confident. Great, iconic characters.

TTFN! K.
Coming Soon... Charlie X
