8th Doctor: Season Four (2004)

Faith Stealer
starts off with promise but outstays its welcome before end of pt 1. This Divergent Universe storyline is so bereft of interest. 4.5/10

The Last
Realised I haven't actually listened to before. Won't be doing so again. Completely lost the will to live. 2/10

Caedroia
is marginally better than the last couple of stories. The split doctors are a bit of fun, yet never fully exploited. Good to finally battle Kro'ka directly, but again, far too much flabby waffle, twice as long as it needs to be and irritatingly abitrary cliffhangers. 4/10

The Next Life
comes as something of a breath of fresh air at the end of the divergent universe saga, even with a completely Doctor-lite 1st episode, zips by, no small feat for a 6 parter. McGann himself continues to sound re-energised following his fun stint as the 3 8th Doctors in the previous tale. But I can't be the only one annoyed and confused by what the Kro'ka is supposed to look like? Quite predictably falls to tiny little bits in the final part, going completely off the rails. Everything with Keep/Perfection/Zagreus is utter utter rubbish, & C'rizz is all over the place. And in fact the scenes between Rassilon & Kro'ka become the best, most of all that last clever echo of Scherzo. The scene of the 8th Doctor throwing a strop about Charlie & C'rizz bickering just at the point of escape is unbelievably awful & unnecessary. Thank God for 's cliffhanger! 5.5/10
